Having sensitive skin doesn't mean you have to give up fine jewelry. Pure gold is 24 karat. 14K gold contains 14 parts gold out of 24, or approximately 58.3% pure gold. The remaining portion is made up of other metals. Those metals vary depending on the manufacturer and the color of the gold. They may include metals such as silver, copper, zinc, palladium, or nickel. These added metals serve an important purpose. Pure gold is relatively soft, so alloying it creates jewelry that is stronger and better suited to daily wear.
